CRUISE 2011

Chris and I took a cruise with friends Dustin and Nikki and a lot of other fun people. We a great time and much deserved time away from kids...and work. We sailed away on the BIGGEST cruise ship...Allure of the Seas....as we were informed several times. It was an awesome ship. And if you want to see it...look on line...I'm not wasting picture space to show you that, but it was awesome...it had tons of activities...boardwalk, casino, golf, surfing, dodge ball...etc... one of our many creatures we came home to at night...
Chris boogie-boarding...who ended up doing awesome with the tricks...flipping over...and winning one of the contest.

Me...attempting to do it...I succeeded as well...and with a little help..was able to get to my knees...but of course not pics of that.

Chris.....he lasted way longer than me...infact he video-taped me...and we will just leave that off the blog...

and yes...there were families on the cruise...

On board the ship the have rock climbing, which we didn't do..but we did do the zip line...

At Saint Marten...I think...may be wrong...there is an airplane runway that is so short that jets...will take off and throw people into the ocean. There are signs posted not to stand there...fences...ect. So what do people do...stand there and hold on....or stand on rocks...like a tween boy did and he got tossed into water and leg bloody...limping afterwards....but the planes coming in, seem so close..

We are great parents...keep telling ourselves that...some days I feel like I need to keep telling myself that. I feel at least, no matter how much I protect them, that accidents do happen...and they seem to all happen at the same time, so when we do go into the doctor...or urgent cares...they look at us, like...hmm..mmm....CPS?????REFERRAL???? So long story made short. Mia had months ago decided upon getting out of the car, placed her hand up the tire in to car and touch something hot...which in return burned her little finger..she has a scar, we treated her, no infection. Looks bad, on our part though! But this time, on a Thursday she was playing and might have hurt her arm wresting with daddy and Vincent. She wouldn't use her arm for awhile...not even to carry her Luvy around..which is a big deal. Chris called me on my way home from work, which of course by now is an ER visit. I'm like, okay I will turn around and just meet you there, he's like hold on she's getting up out of the chair, while he's talking to me. She goes over to the pantry and pulls herself up to get a treat...so he says she must just be milking me for all I'm worth...come home. The next day she plays fine, holds things, etc. nothing out the ordinary....then Sat comes. Of course my turn with her. We are playing and she crawls up me...and I'm tickling her...to get her undressed...and she then starts crying...little confused here...not following...me either...it starts again. She wont use her arm, wont hold her milk, her luvy, wont give me a hug with that arm anything. Is this something around bedtime. Then I thought back...Vince with his arms popping out...but I didn't hear anything. I tried to pop it back again...didn't feel anything. She didn't scream like Vin when we moved her arm...she just let it hang. Vin always held his up. Sunday AM comes, get her out of bed. GUESS WHAT? She WILL NOT use her arm...and off we are to the urgent pediatric care at 11am, to sit there till noon when they open, because they are way cheaper than ER...only to sit there till 3 in the room....explanation:

Doctor: We think it's just swollen from being popped out this long.

Pops it back in (I guess)

Parents: She doesn't present in the classical presentation of nurses elbow, can we please have an xray to make sure, its not more, she holds her arm differently and actually complains of it hurting mid arm.

Doctor: We can get an xray, just to rule it out

( approx 15 minutes later xray done)

and 1.5hours later we get the results that they didn't get the xray where it needed to done, they needed to repeat it.

another 30 minutes goes by.

Nurse comes in to start wrapping her arm...we are like WHOOOOOAAAA...what is going on....she says oh the doctor will be in a few minutes to explain but she has a fracture.

Dr....Well I reviewed the xrays with the radiologist...they say she has a small fracture I don't see it, but we are going to place a splint until you follow up with your pediatrician in 1-2 days.

Geez....thanks.

and the fun...harness...that didn't last.


So we met with Dr. Paradis, our peds doc, who was concerned about the fracture near the growth plate, and referred us to an ortho doc the very next day.

And sure enough after more xrays to confirm, the small fracture near growth plate...for her protection...she need a cast for approx 3 weeks, then rexray.

Update....since I'm late: follow up xray's were good no more cast.

Summer Vacations

July Vacation- Oceans Of Fun....and Schliterb....something I can't spell...but so much fun for both the kids and the parents. I would go back again, plus it is right next to shopping center! BONUS!!

The kids had blast a both places..and Vince only got in trouble a few times..time out only a few times...so not so bad. Mia napped once.. not the best...but a small nap is better than no nap, I guess.
