and the NEWS....

The good news.....Chris comes home late Thursday night and we can not wait. It has been a long 3 weeks without him and we or I am dreading this upcoming deployment. The whole time he was gone Mia has been fighting an ear infection. After numerous medications...Suprax ( strong antibiotic) did not help we tried a mixture of Augmentin and Clindamycin ( I think) she hated the taste of them..and then on top of that would throw up a lot of feedings...so back to the doctor after 4 days of that. Ears bright red, bulging and pus...oh yeah! So the sleepless nights continue. Dr. Paradis ordered Rocephin shots...a shot in each leg for 3 days. OUCH!!! They said it is like glue going in the muscle. YIKES...I feel for my little girl. I just want her better though. We finally got the approval for the ENT office/Tube placement today...I can't wait. The main hold up now is she has to be wheezing free for 2+ weeks. We up'd her pulmicort dosage to get her better...hopefully to wean down soon.
As for the Vincent we put him back on some asthma medication and he is back to running around and around and around. He has so much darn energy. He has been constantly making me laugh. Just the other day he was saying "watch mommy, watch" so I look at him and he keeps repeating himself until I say I'm watching a couple of times. Well later I was saying it but not looking...(he was doing the same thing over and over and over) that he then proceeded to say "watch mommy watch...watch TAMI watch....Watch TAMI WATCH!" what the heck...great he knows my name. He got to play with water outside at school the other day and now its water every day outside...he wants to potty train so hopefully this will now work...being outside we don't have to worry as much. He loves wearing his underwear, he actually says no diaper...underwear. And so far has only wet a little bit in them...after wearing them for approx 6 ish hours. Guess I just need to do it.

It's Official

It's Official....Chris and I create the most allergy/asthma prone kids....why is that????? We had another doctor visit yesterday, the kids just didn't seem to be improving, actually they were the opposite. First lets talk Vincent. He was on a trial off his Advair inhaler....FAILED! I'm not sure if you would have failed if he hadn't had a cold with this trial. The doctor said it would be okay to do the two at the same time...I should have gone with my gut instinct and just waited till the cold was over...but oops! So here's the story. He has been coughing more and more and more... a barky cough with occasionally productive cough...but it use to just be a few coughs and done. Well yesterday and the day before he would start coughing and not be able to stop...resulting in a small amount of emesis with it. Oh yeah! It started happening more...and his hands were getting dusky...so give in! Yesterday he blessed me with a coughing attack on the way to the store...and yep you guessed it, vomit in the carseat....YES just want a sleep deprived mom wanted. Oh yeah...sleep deprived lets talk about that for a few. Chris is gone at guards...so I get to have fun with sick kids. Tuesday night Vin was sick...hurt belly...hurt belly. I think it was from the coughing...but not sure. All night long...hurt belly....hurt back...hurt hurt hurt...I think we were up hourly till midnight and then every 2 after that. We can't forget Mia...in between his sleep periods Mia needed her attention...that left me with a whooping 3 hours of sleep. Little cranky was I when we had to run to the store for groceries...okay enough venting. Back to Vincent. So he is now on Flovent a step down inhaler for asthma, and we are hoping to get over this soon and not need steroid to help him over the hump.
Now on too Miss Mia.....as you most know she had fluid in her ear last week, not infected but could possibly become infected with the sinus cold she had. Her previous ear infection I learned because she stopped sleeping at night and needed to be nursed back to sleep. She had had mixed sleep being at my parents house and then back to our house, so I gave it a little longer. She however in the meantime at my parents started having a rattlely chest...I said it was upper congestion from the sinus drainage (probably was) she would clear after she coughed. On Tuesday she started to wheeze as well. So since again...she needs to be seen. Her ears are now red...oh yeah...infections are what we love, and wheezing...I guess maybe worse than I had thought. She is now on Suprax (antibiotic), steriods, singulair (prevention med for asthma/allergy) albuterol nebulizer treatments as needed and we added pulmicort nebulizer treatments now to help prevent this from occuring again. Dr. stressed we need her tubes...just waiting on the the insurance approval. Doc gave us the wonderful news that Mia looks to be following in Vincent's footsteps....what the.......... How can our kids have so much asthma/allergy problems when we don't have a strong family trait of this.... so I have decided to have our house tested for molds, radon....and anything else anyone tells me.
